You are hilarious!
Oh, that’s a classic. As someone who has a book coming out in a few weeks, this made me laugh out loud, in a real not LOL way.
The person who sent me a link to your video said it was hilarious. I read it, and wanted to cry. I make my living as a journalist and have for 25 years (and I’m hoping I don’t lose my job any time soon, like so many of my colleagues). My third book is coming out in January. For both my other books, I spent weeks and weeks on publicity efforts that proved pointless. Somehow, my agent and publisher have convinced me that once again, I must spend as much time on publicity efforts as I did writing the book. This inevitably also involves spending lots of money on Web sites, mailings, PR people and the like. Watching your video, it sort of all crystallized in my head: I hate this. I hate it. It has nothing to do with writing. I just turned to my husband and said, “Next time I have an idea for a book, remind me that half of writing the book is engaging in ultimately pointless publicity. And try to talk me out of it.” And now, I must go back to creating content for a Web site that has already sucked up countless hours and dollars, and that if I am lucky, my cousins and friends from high school might click on once. Sigh.
It’s a very, very good video. Very good. Thank you.

Twitter on the phone in the car! Too funny! Love this! I shared this with the authors I coach for PR. I am smiling. And people call me the “PR Guru.” You are in my mail! (or email).
Yes, it is hilarious. Yes, it does make me want to cry. If I had time I would, but my neighbour’s book club has asked me round to talk about my new paperback…
Hello Dennis,
Fun. Is this available in DVD form? Would love to show at a small seminar I’m doing in late July on marketing books.
Just shared your video on Facebook. I laughed, I cried — and I make my living writing APPs, Twitter feed copy, and assorted other digital whozits!
I’m a publicist. I love this video. Claire
My ribs hurt from laughing. You nailed it. I’m currently promoting a new screenplay and ‘bumped’ into this video looking for marketing ideas. Great work.
