Awesome Medical Leave
20 Oct
The Awesome Blog can’t catch a break.
I have to go dark again for awhile until I heal up. I’ve been calling it tendonitis although the physical therapist I met with yesterday said it was really more a case of “forearm overuse” and “tired arm.”
I think this is payback for all the times I made fun of people with Restless Leg Syndrome.
Bottom line is I can’t type. Like, at all.
I just bought some voice-to-text software that I will be training in the next few days. It’s going to be an adjustment but hopefully I’ll be back “writing” sooner than later.
Take care of your hands, people!
ah, Dennis, sorry to hear about your arm. Sounds both painful AND frustrating. Hope you heal quickly!
So sorry to hear that! Ice! That’s what I do when my wrists hurt. Also I got one of those ‘broken’ keyboards. That helped a lot. I also bought the voice to text software, but haven’t gotten so bad that I need to use it. Hope you heal soon!
Ugh, get well soon! Tendonitis, carpal tunnel – when they happen they are real bears.
Yes, and no one thinks writing is a dangerous profession. The writer lives always in harm’s way. You’re missed. Stay strong!
Ah, sorry! Heal up soon!
Godspeed!
I just came back to your Awesomeness today after a long sabbatical — and now I find you on leave. Timing — I’ve got to work on my timing.
Hope you mend quickly and well.
Thanks for all the kind words, people! I’ve been doing my stretches and taking my breaks and resting up as best I can. The pain dial is set to “dull ache” instead of “shooting” so hopefully I haven’t done any permanent damage.
My daily visit to Awesome and sadly still dark in there. Withdrawal pains beginning to set in. Hope you’re well on the road to recovery!
Seriously Mr. C.–hoping you’re getting along okay. An update for the faithful when you can.
Found your awesome site a few weeks ago…still waiting to bask in your awesomeness…
HEAL! *pushes forehhead and sends you flying backward*
There. Hope that helps.
Mr. C–Unless Awesome has continued on elsewhere unbeknownst to me it’s still very, very quiet. The conversation among contributors and your thoughtful, helpful insights are missed. Hoping you’re getting along okay and a Happy Holiday to all!
Hi-I hope you are feeling better. I am now reading your article in Poets and Writers and have taked short story classes foe several years at the Gotham Writers school in NYC. I am also a licensed psychologist in NY which is coincidental to my next comment. You may want to tell Norman R F Maier that it would be easier to grab the end of one string in the tip of the plier’s jaw and stroll over to the other string and grab it. Easier and makes more sense. I would love to hear back from you after you caught up with more important correspondence. Sincerely, Michael C. Kirshner
