mnartists.org has extended their deadline for submissions for their What Light Poetry Project and miniStories flash fiction series.
You now have until Friday, May 15th to submit up to three short (maximum 50 lines or 300 words each) poems or up to three flash fiction (500 words or less) stories.
As a former judge for this contest, I know they do a fine job. It’s competitive, but accessible, and if you do good work, you have a chance.
There are also readings associated with the contest that will give you the opportunity to do some community building.
Click the link in the first graf for more details.
Good luck!
I don’t know what the details might be now of MN’s support for writers and artists. But I’ve gotta say, I’m truly envious of the way the state has provided that support in the past.
Florida has a reputation — at least here, inside the state — for devising commemorative license-plate designs for the slightest of occasions for commemoration. Save the Manatees, Save the Whales, Save the Dolphins, Save the Sea Turtles, Save the Florida Panther; every college in the state; Florida wildlife, Florida forests; of course a “Choose Life” plate… The punchline of which is, there’s also one dubbing ourselves the “State of the Arts.” cough It’s hard not to be cynical!
I don’t think I’ve seen an Awesomizer post here for a while. I wonder what the Awesomizer would do with a topic like “public support of the arts”?
Awesomizer is on hiatus. While I miss writing them, they felt indulgent and took time away from the direct helping. But maybe someday . . .
Thanks for the Florida tidbit. I had no idea.
Admit it, you were stumped. There’s no way to awesomize bacon. Can’t be done.
I can easily awesomize bacon:
Make it free.
