Last year, I fell for Gmail Custom Time so this time I was ready.
Still, Gmail Autopilot both cracked me up and seemed entirely reasonable.
Thanks, Google, for making me laugh while taking over the world.

Yeah, good one, except…
My personal April Fool’s is that I have a short story where a systems admin creates something very similar so that he can do his real job instead of being bogged down with (in his mind) inane end-user support questions. Seriously. I even ran it by some system admin friends to make sure it was plausible. They thought it was hilarious and told me to seek pub.
Now I get to worry that people won’t take it seriously when I submit it.
Do you think I can reference the Google prank in the query letter?
@Kat: You have nothing to worry about.
The world is yours to plunder.
Reference the Google prank (or don’t). Ultimately it comes down to the quality of your story and whether or not it’s right for the publication you’re submitting it to.
Good luck.
